Year 1 had great fun exploring ice and how it melts. Working in groups, the children tried out different ideas – holding the ice in their hands, sprinkling salt, using warm water, sprinkling sugar, and even rubbing it on different surfaces. They made wonderful predictions, chatted about their observations, and used lots of fantastic scientific language!
The children were amazed to see how temperature and materials can change how fast the ice melts. There was plenty of teamwork, curiosity, and “wow!” moments throughout the activity.
